Well I almost gave up on the fall run . Fishing from shore has
been pretty bad in the bay but today i got a double. 36 3\4 and a 37 inch . The fish wouldnt take a plug but thank god for eels. |
Nice fish!
I've seen better action myself this weekend in some spots. No, don't quit yet. Unless ya really want to.:)
if the blues are still around then so is da bass . the blues always leave first before it actually ends . at least I see it this way .

Nice fish, I spent two weeks at the Cape, fishing was slow, the bay was best mostly small bass and some bluefish, lots of bait around.
nice fishies
Awsome Bro... Keep at it.. Will be trying somewhere in Chatham next week.. Plan to use Rat-L Traps and Poppers (from Saltwateredge).. Not quiting just yet.. :boots:
Thanks guys, the bass were eating silversides and didnt wont
to touch a plug but throw a eel out there and they would inhale it . The spot I got them Is full of rocks so you have to turn the fish pretty quick or they go into the rocks and brake off. Yeah its tough but what a blast:spin: |
Plenty of pogies around too bad there is nothing eating them where I have been.:realmad:
dinks galore......peanuts too......big fish are absent.....

Not even CLOSE to over.

Agreed --- Remember Oct 12th last year
We are only a week later and this year has been real warm -- they are a coming slowly but they are a coming....
Yeah this year was alot warmer. Caught my first keeper
middle of oct last year. I was hitting fish into the 3 week of november. Almost forgot how cold it was but when you get a fish on the cold seems to go away So hang in there guys . It may be alot harder with the cold but there may be the next record bass out there Try to stay warm, and safe out there and good luck |
I thought Stripers preferred warmer water around 60 + degrees? That is why they are heading South, yes?
I was assumming that they have already headed South by now since the waters are in the area of 50+ degrees... I was just at the Canal this weekend and was skunk both days... :realmad: But I will try it agaoin Sunday :boots: :humpty: |
60plus is a little high. There is a spot here in CT where we catch late fall migrators (not schoolies) into early December when the water surface temps are in the upper 40s. That is the swan song. It seems to be best when temps are in the 50s. Last couple of years the f-ing blues have stayed until the bitter end. They are supposed to leave and give us a few weeks of just bass.......
The past few days in my spots in Ct. , the blues have dwindled to almost nothing, we still have arse laods of big bunker, and some serious large have moved in. We dont have much on the side of little bait right now so schoolies have also been abscent on most nights. I'm a really happy camper. :)
