Any tips on locations , techniques , rod and reel choice , lure customization for catching surf Octopusses? :)

Flaptail 10-30-2006 09:25 AM

Fried Octopus is better than fried shrimp! I love the stuff, don't do squid, too chewey, but Octopus is awesome stuff. Par boil to get the skin off, clean him out and cut the tentacles into 2 inch pieces and deep fry like shrimp, yummmmmeeeeeeee!!!!!!!

Damn...
I only got one Blurple Octopus-Catching 3oz Darter left.
I should have ordered more - I did not expect the late season octopus run.

spence 10-30-2006 10:05 AM

Those Tattoo darters drive me nuts...doesn't matter what I do I can't get the damn thing to swim straight.

I am suprised by this... Octopus (pl) are really smart. Smarter than dogs for sure... Never thought they would fall to a darter. Must be a real good plug :laugha:

wheresmy50 10-30-2006 11:59 AM

You should have challenged it to a game of checkers.

Octopus - It's Whats For Dinner!

When you think about it, Octopi change colors when excited like squid and when a Octopus is darting away from something with it's tentacles all closed up it resembles a darter with the big eye and all. Maybe the little bastard was trying to hump it?

Raven 10-30-2006 03:07 PM

A horney octopus

good thinkin there Flaptail...:btu:

Flaptail... Octopus is not derived from Latin. The correct plural is Octopuses. Did you know they have 3 hearts?
