Cutting Owner & Gami Trebles?
As i was transfering plugs from my truck to my fishing den I noticed that most of the belly hooks on my dannies and a number of other plugs with cut vmc's were rusted. This was not a surprise as I don't rinse my plugs after every trip and vmc's usually rust fairly quickly after being cut.
Just curious if anyone has used cut Owner or Gami trebles. Will they last longer with out rusting than VMC's. I'm willing to deal with the extra expense if it means less hook swapping. -Luds |
Owner Stinger 66 trebles are sharper & stronger than VMC's but also rust faster than VMC's. I don't use cut trebles though, so I'm not sure if the cut hooks act the same.

I prefer a solid ring VMC treble w/ a wolverine split ring. Ive never felt any reason to change. If a hook rusts up a bit, most of the time its surface rust & just needs some sharpening. If its too rusty, ill change out hook & ring.
