Rod Questions

I'm going to be buying a new surf rod soon. Has anyone used or has heard of anything about, 1) Lamiglas XSRA 1084 2) Lamiglas XSRA 1205 (NEW) or the Lamiglas XS91MHS:confused:

You might try posting this in the main forum for a better response.

Ive used all except the last one, what are you looking to do with it, throw what weights? Fish in what kinda area? What kinda reel?

All great rods, but we need more info on what your applications are.:wavey:

the 1084 is a great rod for 1.5 to 3 oz plugs , eels , rubber . its rated for 4 but I would never throw over 3 with it . It may handle it but I dont want to find out . this rod has a lot of back bone to pull in good fish .

In addition, I have a 1081L which is the same blank as the XS9MHS. I live this freaking thing, however only up to 2.5oz. It has great backbone, but lifting a decent size fish up the side of a jetty...that's a different story

I thought 1081m is used for that rod:huh:

Rocky, Just checked.....You are correct sir!:poke: My bad, perhaps someone with the 1m can give a more accurate review

From what I understand the xs91mhs and xs81m and built off of the glb blanks. Basically the same blanks as a gsb but rated a little higher. I have the xs91mhs as a custom in spin (glb1081mh) it's a nice stick. I use it for rubba or when I feel like fishing a 9'er instead of a 10'er. Plenty of backbone for boulderfields and BW's, a little stiff for the smaller bombers other light swimmers but I mostly fish the magnums which it does ok, but it'll throw em' if you need to. It would be my choice over the 1084 because of it's reliability and durability.
