I was talking to some guys at a Russian coastal oil transfer station at 12am their time - actually thought they were on a oil platform on the other side of an island there. Anyway, when I asked if they were taking any precautions or were warned about tsunami warning due to the earthquake - it was the first they had heard of it. They did some quick searches on it.
One of my co-workers overheard me telling them that there was a 16" wave created and he came in to ask me if I knew that I said inches not feet. The guy on the other end of the line said that it may not sound like a lot, but when it gets into the shallow areas - the water will rise up pretty good. Had a couple of Spinal Tap jokes and the Stonehenge stage set-up after that. |
if that was me on the pier, I would be heading for the high ground.
how do you know when its gonna stop? you dont. would have been something if it was another 16 inches. that truck would have been gone. |
