registering in Rhody....

We're about to buy a boat that'll be in RI waters frequently- but we still live in CT and it'll be docked in CT. can we take advantage of the "no-sales-tax-on-boats" from RI still?? that'd save us a ton 'o $$$:hihi:

You'll need a RI address to register it, otherwise CT will come after you anyway.

all depends on where its registered at....

Trayder 11-21-2006 09:53 PM

you do NOT need a RI address to register in RI.

CT on the other hand may take issue with it

If you register it in another state with a CT address, CT will come after you for the tax. Been there done that! The only way you can beat CT is if you can prove that the boat never came into CT.
