made a trip to aruba to try and warm the bones a little

out there 8 days

plugged the beach every morning from 4:45-6:30..picked up small barracuda on topwater and chrome redfins which were a lot of fun

tuesday went out with captain pater maier aboard the MELINA

the man always seems to find fish, and big fish

this particular morning.......6 boats left the marina...4 got the skunk

here's some pictures

the majority of these fish were caught on a g loomis bucara/ van staal 200.....you should have heard it scream

largest 61 lb wahoo....thing smoked my drag

Smoked, you mean ruined? What did you use to get the hoo's in terms of bait/plugs...?

ProfessorM 11-24-2006 05:05 PM

I'll be there for 2 weeks in Jan. again. I usually just drink and lay on the beach. I guess I may have to go fishing, nice catch. P.

I took some fish home, and ate some on the island

pulled back in and there are families on the dock, locals...didin't look like they had a pot to piss in

capt said they some down once a week looking for anything

i ended up giving the family 1 wahoo and one barracuda...the rest was sold to the resteraunts.

wahoo is one of the best eating fish i have ever had

and the cuda took me off guard as well....really sweet tasting fish

in the states we can't eat them because of the copper, but in aruba it is a prized fish....on the menus at all of the 5 stars.

good to hear you still got your fingers. Sounds like an awesome trip. Ive never kept a cuda for the table cause of their potentially poisonous flesh. Especially the larger ones.

exactly what i thought with the cudas

you can eat them in the carib...and they are taste great

wish i brought some of that meat home...just the hoo

I caught a wahoo on my honeymoon in 02 in Aruba. Once you leave the marina your in deeeep water. You caught it on your vs200. That must of been nutz.
