recommended seafood restaurants in Newport area?
input requested ... out of towners asked me for some picks.
i'm not the guy to ask, considering that i deem hooters haute cuisine, and I hardly hop over the bridge any more. fancy shmancy is fine ... acquaintance is looking to take his sweetie out for nice din-din. thx. |
chef should be able to chime in on this

Scales and shells (I think that's the name). Right up the street from the old S.W.E.

Moorings restaurant is good and fancy enough. If you want the cats behind , go to the Inn at Castle Hill , stoip at the bank first though! :)
for just plain good food at reasonable prices , Salas has always been great. |
thanks for the info Mike. I'll pass it on.
the most i ever spent on a meal in RI was at the Route 1 Wendy's in Westerly. I was kidnapped at rodpoint and dragged to the Nordic Lodge (c-town) and had six lobsters crammed down my throat but didn't have to pay for that meal. :hihi: |
Not strickly sea food, but the West Deck is an excellent place, but not cheap.
|
restaurant bouchard on lower thames is killer, jacket required and $$$$, but worth it. On the other end Anthonys seafood good and cheap. Cafe zelda lower thames usally has a decent amount of seafood on menu also, mid -$$, big john always puts out some good stuff there.

best fish and chips on the island is at long wharf seafood
