I'm curious how they do. I, also, have been wanting to build a conrad, but first hope to find one to xray. The shape seems pretty simple, and as best I can tell there is nothing special about the lip or line tie, which means its deep diving property must have to do with either the heavier wood it is made out of, or the weighting. The only thing I've found about the weighting describes the belly weight as being slightly rear of midline. That's the opposite of what I'd expect so I wonder if there is a chin weight as well. Anyone know?

I made one this past summer, rigged it this fall and swam her. Did okay but not like the intended design. Mine would go down 6 feet or so and stop there. The original design would go down ten to fifteen feet and they were heavy.

PS Karl, the senior angler and I had a long talk a couple weeks ago about Conrads. He had the first one, he got it from old Frank, he used itn a few times and Frank asked for it back so TC gave it back and Frank gave it to Danny who copied it and named it for someone he (Danny P) didn't even know, who had nothing to do whatsoever with the plug.

conrad

weighted 2.9ozs and didn't dive more than 6 inches:bc: going to chin weight it, then maybe put another in the belly behind the hook. if that don't work I'll put one in the tail:bl2: ed

lip on the conrad

can't get down:mad: got a .20 belly weight in the belly and chin, its 3.0 oz. putting the weight in the chin made it worse,:af: going to see if a pikie or danny lip will fit, I'm not having any luck getting a-4o type lips to swim down:bc: back to the drawing board
