S-B "Too Cold" Series of events

:D Yes, it is that time of year :wall: when we look at the various S-B Too Cold events. Whether it be Ice Holdeover %#@&$:af://>> DinkFest with Clammer, Too Friekin Cold to Fish, Plugfest, "Club Meetings" or a couple that we've missed in recent years like Reel Shop and Rod Building 101, it is time to start thinking about a couple winter things to do (even though some fish are still available ATRTRT).

I mention the Rod Building and Reel Repair as those were too things that we used to do but did not get to in the last year or two. I have spoken with Mike from M&Ds and sometime after the holidays, on a time which fits his schedule, we may be able to another Rod Class for X number of people interested. So we can work out the details on that hopefully soon.

We also had a Reel Repair workshop of sorts a few years back where people brought in some reels and worked with others on tuning them up or resurecting them, whichever was needed. I would like to do this one again, figure for less than 20 people anyway. But before we decide who and if, any suggestions on where or any volunteers with enough workspace to host this? I have no desires of evicting Slip from his shop like in years past ;) ...

Thoughts? Suggestions?

nightprowler 11-29-2006 01:53 PM

I would be interested in rod building for sure, i would like to wrap a rod this winter, but have no clue where to begin.

In The Surf 11-29-2006 01:58 PM

I would be interested in the rod building also

Sluggoslinger 11-29-2006 02:24 PM

I'd go to the reel workshop and probably the rod building one as well.

crash 11-29-2006 02:31 PM

I'd be in on the rod building, I was planning on taking a class anyways and would rather do it with someone I know, plus Mike builds sweet rods.

ThrowingTimber 11-29-2006 03:14 PM

I'm all in for the rod building was planning on taking a course over the winter anyhow.

Mike P 11-29-2006 03:53 PM

I'd be up for a rod building session.

Heck, I'm like part of the furniture in Mike's shop anyway :rotf3:

lurch 11-29-2006 03:54 PM

I would show up for a reel tune up class.

reebok 11-29-2006 04:04 PM

How about a swap meet or flea market for unused gear?

And with someone around who can offer some advice on the potential value of old plugs, reels, rods?

Bronko 11-29-2006 04:08 PM

I would definitely be interested in a rod building seminar/demo!

snake slinger 11-29-2006 05:30 PM

id like to go to the rod building seminar

striperman36 11-29-2006 06:28 PM

quick decision 11-30-2006 06:25 AM

Everything sounds good. Great idea John.

nightfighter 11-30-2006 07:01 AM

And maybe a casting clinic for those of us conventionally challenged?

fish4striper 11-30-2006 08:57 AM

Rockport24 11-30-2006 09:08 AM

JohnR 11-30-2006 09:17 AM

I'd be interested in that myself

My arm keeps cramping up while I try and thumb the Reel when its facing down...like my spinning gear

Swimmer 11-30-2006 11:43 AM

TFCTFN and Plugfest

Now that my bro and I know how to get to the TFCTFN location we'll be back. Wouldn't miss Clammer's Ass again for the world. Sitting with and kibbitzing with the Hess family and Backlash was too funny. :buds:

And plugfest, what more can be said.

I just can't get the smell of burning thumb-flesh outta my nose. This was my first full year with convention casting and the first half wasn't pretty.

Any thoughts on a date for plugfest? I was hoping it wouldn't be the same saturday as last year (being feb 10 2007) as I will be in Florida. But to be honest I would rather be at plugfest here in the cold. I had so much fun at the last one.
That was the first one I attended and I thought it was really well organized and met a great bunch of guys.
I know every date doesn't work for everyone, but just wanted to
throw in my .02.

Eric

Rod building will be held at my house in West Wareham.
I have better lighting and more room there.

Raven 11-30-2006 10:51 PM

a viewing of

stripers gone wild...
would get everyone fired up
was a thought....

as long as it doesnt hurt sales of the product.

your cramping muscles is either a magnesium deficiency
or not enough vitamin E

TWIMC,
Hopefully the TFCTFN can be before the weekend of President's Day (Feb 16th to Feb 19th) and after the weekend after it (23rd-24th).
I'm taking the weekdays off to go fishing with Mikey (for big WMass pike), and cant get any time off the weekend before or after.
I really like the weekend of 2/8-9 or the first weekend in March.
If y'all wanna have it without me, so be it...but I figure with Don, Greg and myself staring it, I should get a little leeway.
Oh yes, and if everybody wants one, there could be an Iron Chef Bomba faceoff at this year's shindig.
Lata,
Rick

Bomba -- shut your gormet Pie Hole :jester:

Actually, to spread things out a bit (and to cconfirm the desire of our chef's bride) I was thinking early March might be best...

Mike - thanks! You around today for a call? I only have the shop #

thanks!

(Still looking for a place for the reel party)
