in one of the more remote spots I came across a like new lobsterpot that had no id tags and no marker, line was cut by a prop. Thinking I should carry it back to the truck (because I lost a couple this season) I started to untangle the mess of line and noticed a blue lobster in the pot! I said to myself...here's dinner tonight but pulled her out only to see she was an egg'er. Released her in a small cove (about 2' of water) when the tide comes in she will be able to get out to sea and lay those eggs.
Never did get the pot back home....too damn far to carry it. I did my good deed for the day.

good stuffs coming your way for releasing her

I've heard you have a better chance at winning the lottery than finding a blue lobster... I have no idea if that's true. But my friend once found one in the same manner, gave it to a local grocery and they've been giving him free beer ever since ... it's in a tank as their mascot. Hmmm do the math, I know of 2 people who found a Blue lobster and no one who's won the lotto....

back when i used to lobster, we pulled one up. spoke with the folks at the hatchery on MV. Told me odds of a blue lobster are something like 1 in 200 million

I hand caught a blue lobster in the mud flats near RR bridge on the Canal some years back....was a soft shell hiding in the grass in two feet of water....let her go.

I love beachwalking at those remote spots on MV. You never know what you'll find washed up there.

Maybe those odds include people who live in North Dakota or something? Seems like they would have very little chance to find em there :cputin:

Mikey called,
He said his munchies were something fierce...ha was waiting for the blue lobster.
Always a good deed to put back an egga, especially a blue one, especially one that's trapped in a trap.
Oh WTH, I'm the mean looking one that does all the nice stuff anyway.
Lata,
Rick
