Extreme model building
A fellow member sent this to me, I guess he thought I was into machining for some reason. Some pretty incredible wormanship to say the least. I do not see enough machinery in his shop though to produce that kind of project. He must have another source I would think. Wow.

That was...amazingly sick! Valves, valve springs...the gear box actually works???? A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!:bgi:

that is freakin awesome dood.
he's got a cnc carving machine, mill and 2 lathes, what else would you need |
Yeah the guy drew up the prints, had a 12 cylinder block cast, then machined it. Also a crankshaft for a 12 cylinder, a cam for 24 valves. Oh yeah a workable transmission. You can imagine the engineering involved in that and 1/3 scale. And I call myself a machinist.
|
I am sure he had things sent out of house like grinding and casting but he probably did the vast majority of the work in his little shop.
|
I dunno, it seems like he should have just made it full size instead. I guess that would require MUCH bigger cnc machines and $$, but still.
Impressive skills one way or the other. |

As a model he doesn't really need to worry about performance, safety or regulations. -spence |
i don't understand
why isnt he a high paid designer working for ferrari??
the guys a genius:claps: |
i agree he seems very talented, but not really a designer. He didn't design anything, just coppied. He is a fantastic duplicator.
I find it a little creepy, but hey, whatever floats you boat.... |
Either way, extremely talented fellow!

I was thinking about this last nite at work. The guy built a 12 cylinder engine and tranny from scratch and it works and 1/3 scale in his garage. Never mind all the other stuff involved, body, suspension, etc.. Incredible. Also smaller is more difficult too than full scale IMO.
|
That is some really nice work he did there.
I wonder if he ever thought to make a real one in full scale. If you are going to put that much work into a small one, why not a big one. I recently saw a 1920's Mercedes SSK someone was doing over and he didn't have much to work with. It's amazing what some of the restoration guys can do. Won't end up 100% but still cool. Cars are another hobby of mine. Eric |
