computer question

have an 5-6 year old desk top. trash it or what?

spence 12-07-2006 12:48 PM

If it's junk I'd just take it to a local recycle facility.

If it works you could donate it to a thrift, or sometimes groups will take old computer gear to refurb for charity.

But if you've stored personal data on it you may want to drill a hold in the hard drive to prevent any data theft.

i'm still running a 96 box

pentium 2

i have the new one sitting next to it...

sometimes i need two @ once....

if it runs still, let someone have it...

they make ya pay to dispose of it now...

the monitor is considered hazardous waste.

If the kids are young enough, download edbuntu - it is a lightwieght Linux distribution geared for kids and learning....

Pretty cool...

Otherwise, recycling center

Definitely look into the Edbuntu http://www.edubuntu.org/

Pretty easy to install (for Linux) and a great resource for the kids...
