clear vinyl tube

is it possible to dye?

beamie 12-19-2006 01:12 AM

What kind of tubing is it? You can dye natural latex, which is a tan color, with the rit dyes. If you have a clear vinyl I don't think dying would take to it.

I now see it is vinyl.......you can try it but I think your results will be poor.

There is all kinds of color availible if you do dome surfing.

taJon 12-19-2006 07:36 AM

what are you doing?

You can most defently dye it. Boil up some rite dye and let soak/simer for about a 1/2 hour. Pre-cut your tubes before you dye and make sure there are no kinks in it as they will never come out. After about a 1/2 hour of them in the simering boil take the pot off the stove and rinse them down with cold water, this helps maintaine the color in the pores of the tube closing them quickly. After that hang them and they will maintaine there natural shape.
The wine colored dye on a 20' tube is un beatable!!

Make sure you add the salt per the directions to lock the color

Doesn't seem worth the hassle with all the colors available.

caught my biggest fish this year on wine16' tube.

i was wondering how to make it porous since the vinyl seems porousless.

BAITfishing 12-19-2006 11:38 AM

when it is in the boiling/simering water it opens up. IF it was completely seeled, no pores, it would not get soft. Also remember to keep it @ a lite boil, as to much will alter the shape/state of the tube.

MrHunters 12-19-2006 01:25 PM

bought me some rit, gonna experiment tonight
