Helicopter in The Ditch

We were fishing Bird Island on Saturday and noticed a Helicopter working its way up and down the West End of the ditch. It appeared he was looking for a certain craft as he would hover behind several of them as they came up through the channel...taking names? Lasted about 10 minutes. Anyone know or venture a guess as to what was going on?

Also wierd, Coast Guard C-130 Herc landing at TF Green yesterday just after all of the snotty weather...

No Info on that incident but I have a "sense" that this is something to which we may become more accustomed to seeing with the increase in security in and around our Ports and Waterways.
They possibly could have been running a "survey" looking at vessels similar in size to that which was in trouble there recently. PFD survey?

I saw a helicopter last weekend drifting for fluke off Matunuck that I thought was odd. I was out with the "fleet" and this little helicopter came buzzing up the coast right over the water. After it passsed, it banked up and cirled some boats further down, then took off. It seemed to be looking for something. Probably not related, but thought it was strange

On vacation this week and I was on the water everyday but today. Theres a National Gaurd helicopter flying the south coast everyday and also saw a Coast Gaurd jet flying around. I think its increased security.
