Minn Kota Riptide 55 bow mount on a Maritime Skiff 1890

I am planning to get a Minn Kota Riptide 55 bow mount for my Maritime Skiff 1890. Those who have this boat and trolling motor, did you need a plate to mount the motor to the rolled gunwales? Or what did you do? Thanks.
