If that was Ringo playing side two of Abbey Road it was great work, but you gotta wonder.

Raider Ronnie 01-08-2007 08:17 PM

My picks of worst drummers is based on being a member of a famous band, made a crazy amount of money as a result of being in that band, and have NO talent !

Ringo
Charlie Watts
but worst of all
Joey Creamer !!!

Aw c'mon! Ringo and Charlie are the worst in that scenario.

Besides, Joey Kramer is my mother's boss so I can't say anything bad about him......I need the free concert tickets :bl:

No, actually, Charlie is a decent jazz drummer
And Steve Tyler is actually a much better drummer than Joey !!!

I cant believe you think Charlie Watts is a lousy drummer.
He's not a show off, but his playing is fantatsic. Crank up Exile on Main Street and then tell me that. He is a great rock drummer.

From All Music Guide:
On first glance, Charlie Watts would seem to be a funny choice to include in a jazz book for he is the longtime drummer of the Rolling Stones. However, jazz was Watts' first love and in the 1980s he toured worldwide with a huge big band that included many of England's top musicians (giving one a chance to hear Evan Parker play "Lester Leaps In!"). In 1991, he organized an excellent bop quintet (featuring altoist Peter King) that paid tribute to Charlie Parker, justifying Watts' place in any jazz history book.

IMHO, you cant be a bad drummer and play jazz. period

You must be joking if you think Charlie is a good drummer!

Ringo is living proof of two old adages:

1) It's better to be lucky than good

2) There's no substitute for being in the right place at the right time.

But, he was more fab with the girls than Pete Best ;)

BigFish 01-09-2007 07:46 AM

MikeP...mostly because Ringo had the Fame and the Bucks! He was not the best looking gent on the ugly ferry...that is for sure!:bgi:

Worst drummer is Radar from MASH!

Apparently, Ringo had quite the following before he joined the Beatles.

The story goes that just before the Beatles hit it big, John and Paul decided that Ringo would bring more heartstruck chicks into the audience than their oiriginal drummer, Pete Best. So they fired Best and took on Ringo.

If you ever saw a picture of Pete Best and compared him to Ringo, you'd have to wonder whether John and Paul were dropping acid even back then :bl2:

Matt should take a few lessons from Vinny.

Geez I hope Vinny plays again.I hate to say it but if Phil can get his crap together and Rex comes along the boys NEED to make up.It we be hard to find someone worthy of DB.

The Watts/Wyman and Starr/ McCartney rythmn section duos are probably the most dynamic, ahead of their time, sycronized, "never become bigger that the music" combo in rock & roll history. I didn't say the best musicians at their instuments (although McCartney is probably the most under-appreciated bassist as well as best all around musicians ever), I said best fit for their band's music no matter which way the band's music turned. Both drummers, especially, projected an understated drive that was a big part of why the music worked so well on so many levels. Excuse me but I've been a big fane of both bands since the Beatles played on my 12th birthday, Sunday, Feb. 9, 1964
Catch'em up, ThomCat
P.S Who the F#^*@ wound me up, gotta get back to decaf.

Young Salt 01-11-2007 04:51 PM

two straight hours of - boom chick, boom chick, boom chick, boom chick

sometimes they get fancy and play - boom chick, boom chick, boom chick, boom boom boom
