How Lazy are our Kids

In a follow-up to Spences "How Dumb are our Kids" thread....

I'm sitting on the couch this morning eating breakfast while the kids are getting ready for school. My son gets his coat on and heads outside to wait for the Bus.

The phone rings and my wife answers it. I hear her say in kind of a weird tone "Yeah sure I'll let you know" and she hangs up. So of course I gotta ask who called this early.

She says 'It was Andrew (one of my sons friends) he wanted me to call him when the bus came so he didn't have to wait outside too long" where he is one of the next stops for the bus.

So after sitting there for a couple of minutes not believing what I just heard ( I must have repeated the Phrase "You friggin Kidding Me" a 1/2 doze times) I say to my wife "Give me the Phone"

I call up Andrew and When he answers I say " Andrew, Get your coat on and get your butt outside and wait for the bus like everyone else, Mrs. McGrath is NOT calling you....Goodbye"

My wife has to worry about getting both our kids out the door for school and get herself ready for work and This kid calls her up to do this so he can catch an extra 10 minutes of the "Super Crappy Cartoon Hour" on cartoon network in the warm house.......:wall: WTF are some of these kids thinking.

I swear we're raising a Generation of Super-Pu$$ies......My God

I also told my not to do that for him in the future...I don't know what she was thinking either by saying yes.

That's my rant.....proceed

gotta be 12-14 right? thats about that level of stupidity.

younger than that, and its ALMOST ok because of the cold

older than that, well... :whackin:

I was -3 this morning.

The Dad Fisherman 01-26-2007 11:26 AM

Bingo....12 gonna be 13 in a couple of months.

and its not like your asking the kid to stand there for 2 hours either...just 10 minutes.

Not to sound like some Old Timer but I ALWAYS walked to school, no matter what the weather.......and I survived

The kid either knows how to manage his time, lazy or thinks of your wife as his extended family. Your wife sounds OK to offer to notify him upon the bus arriving with this extreme cold, it sounds like she likes the kid.
Your avatar describes you perfectly for this situation.
I would have told him the bus is on its way, "NOT" and let him wait even longer at the stop.

Don't get me wrong, he's a good kid, I like the kid. But If My son is out there waiting for the bus why shouldn't he be.

My wife is too nice for her own good sometimes....and even she will admit it.

I'm sure it was only because it was like 4 degrees out

lazy is my son calling me from inside the house on my cell phone while I am working in the shop, just to ask or tell me something when he could have just walked outside the few steps to the shop :rollem:

i think it's brilliant. although, if your wife has to worry about getting your kids ready for school, i think he should've called you instead. :laugha:

At least that would have saved me calling him back :hee:

I think part of it was also that he is one of our Scouts.....here we are trying to teach them Cold Weather Survival and how to be Self-Sufficient.

I think he should make a Note to Self.....Don't try pulling this with one of your Scoutmasters.
