Good Day in Boston Today

Took my Father in Law fishing today. We started slow, but things picked up late AM. Caught 8-10 fish total 3 keeper size.
This one was hooked deep and came home for the grill (yummy). Stayed til' the wind was too much. He is one happy and tired camper today. :D |
Nice fish.
hangmans? |
No, Brewster Is.
|
Way to go!
|
Bill...couldn't you tell it was Big Brewster by the Cormarant Cuca and Gull Goo on the ledge?
|
The smell there with the right breeze is atrocious!!!!!!:smash:

hey Van,
nice fish! This was the 4th fish for me last night within 2 hours, every bass we hooked up were 33inches minimum, fat and healthy. I released every fish after getting some pics. The fish are out there, just gotta find there haunts and wait it out :) Anthony |
my friend Dave from "ReelEasyCharters.com "with a nice fish.

#2, got him down deep over a ledge with live bait

Nice fish, however I have to ask a question. You say the fish were released after taking some pictures, then why gaff the fish for a few photos. In the first picture you appear to have a boga grip, why not use that or lip them. Not trying to come down on you, but why inflict any damage at all, which could be a source of infection for the fish to fight off down the line?

Good job Mako.
Boston is loaded with fish TRUE!:D I'm going out again tomorrow for an evening cruise and some fishing with the family. Here is one of mine. I agree with handling. I sort of shocked my father in-law when i yelled "NOT IN THE GILLS" Then I explained why. It was cool!!;) |
Here is one of my son's.
This time I beat him out for size and numbers!!! :D |
Van & Mako19, glad you guys are getting into fish, the pictures look great.
Van we will be out most of tomorrow. Heading out about 4 am so give us a shout or call me on the cell and we will let ya know whats happening. |
Sorry, I really did not want to gaff the fish, I couldn't find the boga-grip. It was gaffed through the soft membrane part. I do hope that fish makes it to fight another day............ he took off in a hurry. I don't keep anything unless I'm going to eat it.
What is bothersome to me is when people take fish just to weigh it in to have their pictures taken then discarding the fish in the dumpster. Fisherwoman........is that you, Julie? |
I just grab em like a largemouth bass. Tare up your thumb!
|
I just lip 'em too... but my boat is smaller, so my gunwales aren't too high over the water. The nice thing about fishing jerkbaits is that I'm using a single 5/0 wide gap hook and I often just grab the hook and twist w/o even lifting the fish from the water. That's tough with a plug with a couple trebles :) Unless, you want a set in your finger.
Speakin' of tearing up fingers, I'll tell what I've done about a dozen times this year, grabbin' the leader and the line just slicing into the crease in my index finger. There's a nice groove there now, so the line usually gets right in there... youuuch. Luckily, the one I did saturday was not in the same place. Yes, I have a fish glove... I'm just too dumb and lazy to grab it. That'll change now with the arrival of the bluefish. I wouldn't use it as a rule, but I'm sure that fish gaffed in the lower jaw will make it OK... not much worse than a mouthful of trebles, but the boga is less destructive. Anyway, without this getting into a "pick on Anthony" session, nice fish Anthony and Van. |
That would be me Anthony!!!
Just grab them by the lip to get the hook out. Schoolie, if you want to avoid getting that cut in your finger, try wrapping the line around you had a couple of times and the line won't slide and cut ya. |
