Dominion Electric

Did any of the Cape folks get the letter today offering a 10% discount from Dominion?
Anybody have any thoughts on this? :eyes:

Ah, so that's what that was. It was addressed to my wife (the Nstar account holder of record) so I didn't open it.

My bill runs about $70 a month, so I'd be saving a whopping 7 clams.

What I'd really like to see is a letter from someone offering homeowners' insurance

stripersnipr 02-07-2007 08:50 PM

Yeah, I got it and a 10% discount works out to about $10.00 a week for me. I need to know more about it before I jump. I'll wait for someone else to switch first and see how it works out for them.

It's funny I just don't trust people that want to do you a favor.
I would bet they want to lock you in, the price will drop and we get stuck?

tattoobob 02-07-2007 09:18 PM

Or they get you to sign up then it 6 months the price goes up 50%

We got the same thing up north here and I threw it right in the trash

I signed up with them about a year ago.. bill dropped, no interuption inservice.. you still get your bill from NSTAR like always, only at a lower rate.. make the check out to NSTAR too, they are still the delverer.. Dominion is the provider.. now.. how the wires leading to my house know how to get the power from their plant, instead of the oil puker (Mirant) plant at the canal.. ;).. I just called Dominion yesterday.. one year was u[.. no need to renew.. I asked them if they could do better than the 10 percent, as last year it was almost 25 percent.. they didn't go much, but they dropped another penny per KWH.. :)
I'm a heavy electricity user, so, it matters to me.. Mike..$70!!.. must be nice, Mike...

I just got the letter and was going to ask, glad I saw this post.

With your comments Karl, I think I'm going to go for it. My family doesn't know the meaning of shutting off lights, "the house looks nice from the outside with these lights on" (then go outside and look at the house!) and we are running around $200/month, I'll take the $20.

Low voltage lights, dimmer switches on the rest of the lights, and gas heat/stove/hot water. We don't watch TV very much during the week. Maybe run the washer and dryer once a week. Biggest power user is the computer :D

The guy we bought this house from was either a green freak, or maybe just a cheapskate. At one time he even had solar panels on the roof.

But, you won't want to see my gas bill next month ;) It was $245 for January and the first 2 weeks, the temps were never below freezing.

Of course, come summer, a $20 gas bill goes down real easy :D
