tieing leaders

There is a post on how many leaders you tie pre-year. Any sharpies like to explain there method of tying?

Very basic. Improved clinch knot to the barrel swivel and to a Breakaway clip on the other end. I like 30-36" leaders. And a big enough swivel to grab onto to land a fish without slicing your hands.

Basic is best when you have to re-tie often due to abrasion, which happens a lot in the Canal. Even when you're not hanging up.

I use the UNI knot on everything, It's the knot I know and can tie
fowards and backwards , fits through guides for direct tie line 2 line.
I like it like it alot

36" leader either 30# or 50# Ande leader material. A 130# Spro power swivel tied with a polmar knot on one end. For plugging I either put a coastlock snap on the other end or nothing so I can tie direct. For my eeling leaders I put an Eagle Claw L2004EL non-offset circle hook on with a polmar knot.

If you toss plugs all night, use 60", 50-60# leader with an Albright or Alberto knot between leader and braid and a Uni or Rapala knot to your plug.
Each plug swap out, consumes about 3-4" of line, so your good for around 6-8 different plug before a new leaded is needed.
The heavy leader has good abrasion and more importantly, gives you something to grab onto, during those final seconds of landing you catch.

36" with either 30lb or 50lb Ande mono leader.I do the business end with a Breakaway clip and the other with 130lb Spro. For knots I mostly use a Palomar.I'll do around 50 of each in 30lb and 50lb.
