whoah....whoah....whoah. lots of questions

I like topwater for spring schoolies....start with a yozuri hydo pencil or rapala skitter walk. if they don't like it on top i'll go to a storm shad, 6 inch sluggo, or bass assasin w/jig head.

normally during daytime i like the hydropencil tatto sea pup, troublemaker surfster, bm danny, bm jr., mac pencil, Surf asylum penci, tattoo sea pup, afterhours spookster, casymaster, ss poppers(sinking), hab's poppers. It's a crapshoot what comes out first,

in the spring at night I like to start with a bomber. ryan smith 2 oz. is 2nd.

in june I start going heavy with needles. Aftherhours needles is first choice. Hab's for bigger water. Beachmaster 2 oz. for even bigger water.

bombers are my biggest constang artificial year round.

Depends where you are. What state, what beach etc.

basswipe 02-11-2007 11:46 AM

That's a hard one to answer.Like Flap said it depends.

If I had to choose only a few plugs to put in the bag I'd have to include white and black needles,olive/white 1.25oz popper. For the above Hab's and/or Salty's are my favs.A large olive/white Pencil(Mac's Canal ones are the bomb!).A blurple bomber/mambo.Pt.Jude Wobblehead with SurfHog and a couple of tins like Pt,Judes and Kastmasters.

day time = zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
all other times it depends on beach but probably a needle

a sinking needle is a great search tool- when i scout around at the beginning of a night looking for fish i always try to cover all levels of the water column- once i find fish, i switch over to something that may be more appropriate- usually my eels.. if the fish are deep and its windy the needle stays on.

When fishing rocky areas with current I will ussually first pull out either a darter or needle. Fishing inlets or other outflows, Bucktail is ussually the first thing I clip on. When fishing the backbays, alot depends on what bait has been present , but ussually I will stick with bombers, needles, and small bucktails. During first light I will ussually throw either pencils or bucktails.

Bassassassins and pencils. BassassassinZZZZ!!

in almost every area i fish, the first lure i tie on is a 5" Tsunami Swim Shad.

Great minds think alike :buds:

dawn/dusk/day= yellow bomber, black label swimmer
night off/in the rocks= black bomber, needlefish

Redsoxticket 02-11-2007 07:48 PM

Mostly the Tsunami or Storm Wildeye shads to test out the waters.

Day time I always start with a pencil either Cordell, Gibbs, or Gags. After that I will go to a medium Danny, either Gibbs or Tattoo. If all plugs fail to gain attention Ill go to a bucktail or soft plastic such as sluggos.

After Dark I usually start with an A-Salt bomber in Blurple or dark yellow. Then I will move on to the Danny, Redfin, and Needles. Sluggos as a last resort.

lot of questions there, could be the topic of a book

but in general - daytime for small fish or fish on small bait - bone jumpin' minnow
- daytime for larger fish - tattoo sea pup
nighttime - calm - bomber
- medium - sluggo
- rough - hab's needle

There was a time when I reached for the 3/4oz pearl creek chub for every first cast. Now my head is getting all messed up from reading about fishing on the internet, making the choice more complicated.

nightfighter 02-12-2007 09:42 PM

I'm a pre-dawn/sunrise topwater slut......2 oz. pencil

RIROCKHOUND 02-12-2007 10:10 PM

Rigged eel....

zimmy 02-13-2007 10:45 AM

Night- if its deep enough and there is current it will be a bucktail. Shallow areas or surf will toss a red fin.

Day- kastmaster first, followed by pencils

MikeToole 02-13-2007 06:13 PM

Olive Mambo till early June and than a Choopy needlefish for the rest of the season.
