limp mono recomendations
 

Hey guys, I need some advice on selecting some mono for my bait setups. I've got a 9M and a 320 GTI that I run with 20 and 40# Ande premium respectively, but I really need a limper mono with less memory and good abrasion resistance. With the Ande, any letup in pressure and the stuff just jumps off the spool, I've used Big Game and had the same problem. I've heard Maxima makes a real limp mono, has anyone used it, or can suggest something else?

I was going to suggest big game, it is extremely limp compared to other monos. Give Sufix a shot that is real limp line as well.

I second the Big Game suggestion. Most limp mono I have tried.

One other thing to check is are you putting too much line on the reel. We use big game as well and never have that problem as it is very soft but tuff. Have you ever tried braid with a mono leader?

I use Big Game as well and it works fine. I hit it with a blast of reel Magic and it helps with any memory pretty well

I use it on my reels and line all the time.

I tried Ande Backcountry this year and I was really impressed. It has less memory than The Ande Premium by far. Also, the abraision resistance is great. Give it a try.

I,ve had real good luck in the lighter line with the green Stren // very happy with its performance .,.,

Check out Hi-Seas ,Black Widow line it even dissapears in water

what pound test you been usin

considering that it's micro thin... 30lb?

I really don't like any of the mono out there today. After using copolymers, I'm spoiled. I like the limpness of it. I'm going as high as 20# with it.

Raven I use #16 BW on my boat spinners with a # 25 leader (QUATRO),
for jigging #30 BW
nice abrasion resistence and it's IFGA tested the boys down south swear by it both HI-SEAS Blackwidow & Quatro mono

I've always used Trilene XL 17lb. test for surfcasting mono, switched to Fireline. 20lb. on light rod, 30lb. on my open-water setup. This year, though, I may try Ande Backcountry. I've heard lots about it's castability and abrasion-resistance. Usually, these two qualities tend to cancel each other out.

Thanks for all the great replies guys! jimmy z, what brand of co-polymer are you using? I've used P-Line and Excalibur in 6 and 8# on my fresh water stuff, but not the heavier weights. Why no higher than 20#?

Link, just checked out the Hi-Seas site, stuff looks like just what I want. Are there any local shops that sell it? I'm up on the north shore but I'll be headed down that way in a month or so.
