SEVERE weather alert

WHY do they gotta hype less than an inch.
If I pull up wx for here it says a dusting but it shows a severe wx alert.
Go figure? How is <1" severe wx?

omg I gotta go to the store we only have 2 gallons of milk in the fridge
and I gotta get 33 more. :zup:

...SNOW IS EXPECTED IN SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND LATE TONIGHT AND MONDAY...

SNOW WILL MOVE INTO SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND LATE TONIGHT WITH
ACCUMULATIONS OF 1 TO 3 INCHES POSSIBLE BY THE START OF THE
MONDAY MORNING COMMUTE. THE BEST CHANCE OF THIS EARLY ACCUMULATION
WILL BE LOCATIONS SOUTH OF THE MASS PIKE ESPECIALLY ACROSS CONNECTICUT
AND SOUTHERN RHODE ISLAND AND INTO EXTREME SOUTH COASTAL MASSACHUSETTS.

ELSEWHERE LIGHT SNOW OR FLURRIES SHOULD ACCUMULATE A COATING TO AN INCH
BY THE START OF THE MONDAY MORNING COMMUTE WITH LESSER AMOUNTS NORTH
OF THE MASS PIKE INTO SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE.

LIGHT SNOW OR FLURRIES WILL CONTINUE THROUGH MONDAY AND THEN DIMINISH
MONDAY EVENING. SOME ADDITIONAL SNOW ACCUMULATION IS POSSIBLE DURING
THE DAY AND EVENING.

THE SNOW WILL COME FROM A STORM CURRENTLY IN THE MISSOURI VALLEY.
THIS STORM WILL REDEVELOP ALONG THE MID ATLANTIC COAST TONIGHT AND
PASS SOUTH OF NEW ENGLAND ON MONDAY. THE TRACK OF THE STORM WILL
DETERMINE WHERE THE HIGHEST SNOW AMOUNTS WILL OCCUR. IF THE ACTUAL
STORM TRACK SHIFTS FARTHER NORTH OR SOUTH THEN THE HEAVIER AMOUNTS
WOULD ALSO SHIFT IN THE SAME DIRECTION.

IF YOU PLAN TO TRAVEL DURING THE MONDAY MORNING COMMUTE...YOU SHOULD
EXPECT TO REQUIRE A LONGER TIME TO REACH YOUR DESTINATION.

Holy Carp! The sky is falling. Why does everything have to be sensational, these days.:rocketem:

UserRemoved1 02-25-2007 09:15 AM

Fred what are you doing posting you should be in your truck racing to the store before all the bread is gone :hee:

EricW 02-25-2007 09:29 AM

What I hate is when you actually DO need bread and you go after all the pandemonium has ensued......I was in a store a few years ago before one of these monster storms and the store looked like a bomb hit it. People were rude, running you over etc. I don't know what people are thinking, I always wonder if a lot of food goes to waste when a big store gets cleaned out like that.

jbuck 02-25-2007 09:32 AM

They do this with everything in the news now.
Locan news station have 2 hours in the AM . !/2 hour at lunch,
1 1/2 hour in the afternoon. a 1/2 hour at 11 pm

and don't forget those special up dates.

Raider Ronnie 02-25-2007 09:52 AM

Same reason they cover stories like
Anna Nicole Smith dead, who gets the body, looser judge crying,ect...
Britney Spears in and out of rehab , shaves her head, ect....cha
I've been mad about them getting rid of the news at 10:00 on 56 (wlvi, wb, cw, or whatever they have been calling the channel now) with 10:00 new by channel 7, fast paced, gossip mag crap !

Kill your TV.
Life is so much more interesting when you don't know what is going to happen 5 days in advance.

I'm all suited up in my ice-fishing gear. The snowshoes make it hard to get around in the bathroom though.

sok 02-25-2007 08:00 PM

The NWS, the local stations, etc.,etc.
They have to hype the hell out of it because they DON'T KNOW.
Not a clue. I can call it better than them this year.
If you don't believe me?
Allow me to demonstrate.
Weather this winter?

There will be some.

?

As a result of detailed,accurate,graphic,in-depth forecasts like the one above, I make a point of making sure I am fully stocked with essential survival gear/canned goods (at least 18) from the AB Co.,ST Louis,MO at all times.

Smokes too.

Squid kids Dad 02-25-2007 09:41 PM

I read this thread earlier in the day..Didnt think much of it..Went to do my Sunday food shopping and Bam..No frigging bread ect,,It was like a bomb went off....Geez people relax..We aint living in the 70'S anymore...

sok 02-25-2007 10:23 PM

No bread?
You're DOOMED!
Bottled water and canned goods and milk can't help you without bread.
Doomed, you'll never make it.
They are calling for maybe an 1/2 inch of snow here.
!
Maybe.
I can get my hands on a generator and I'm well armed in case there is looting.
Good luck & happy hunting.
If I don't make it tell my mother I love her.

(Sarcasm off.)

4" in SOCO fishing is around the corner !!

kevin d 02-26-2007 06:57 AM

Ever since the Blizzard of 78........
It's kind of funny how some people never forget and don't change their ways. My grandmother had a supply of canned goods in her cellar that would have put any corner market to shame. She rotated them each week with new stuff. This came from living through the Depression, WWII and the Cold War.

striperman36 02-26-2007 11:26 AM

Kill your tv.
Buy your shows on ITUNES
Get the white eggs from the market along with the milk and Canadian Wheat.

sok 02-27-2007 10:29 PM

With this last one I actually had to break out the heavy equipment to clear the whole inch of snow I got.
Side of my foot.

I give them very little credit but I haven't heard storm of the year/decade/century.

YET.

Raven 02-28-2007 06:24 AM
