19' Cape Horn, 21' SE Parker, 20' Spec Edit Northcoastcc(all brand new)
We are currently looking to downsize our Albemarle 27'. We are looking at the 19 Cape Horn with a 150 etec(or yamaha 150)...21'parker 150 yamaha...20' Northcoast w/175hp Etec. We aren't really sweating the finish since neither my bro or I have a wife or kids that we need to make happy...plus we plan on splashing fish guts all over it anyway...and we aren't out there to impress anyone....of these boats, we want a boat that will be the perfect boat for us. 50% Back bay fishing, 40% Rips/del bay/out to 5 miles fishing and 10% out to 20 miles trolling. We want the best fuel economy we can get...so if its etec..great if not then yamaha 4 stroke? They are all pretty much priced around the same when it comes to options vs standard features(cape horn comes loaded with standard features and a trailer) others need to add on to come close to what the cape horn offers. All 3 are mid to high 30's.
The Cape Horn like I stated is loaded with standard features, an 80 gallon gas, 20 gal livewell, ttop with e box, spreaders, 6' 270qrt insulated fish box 150 etec. Trailer The Parker is the one without many stanard features...and the dealer had a 150 on the back end...I think it is a bit underpowered for the money. The Northcoast(many people bash because of its fit and finish)..will come with ttop ebox, spreaders, insulated fish box, 175 etec and 82 gal gas. Which of these boats would be your choice taken what our % of fishing would be? Thanks |
Haven't seen the 19 Horn but I was impressed by some other ones I saw. Parker & Northcoast are nice boats but there have got to be some other ones you'd consider too.
21 Seahunt, 206 Se Pro, 21 Scout, 21 Seaswirl (based on seacraft hulls) 206 Key Largo, 20-21' Sailfish Welcome to S-B |
I would go with the northcoas. I love those boats

Thanks for the replies guys, we are looking at sea hunts, as well...this is the very begining stages of looking around since we bought our Albie last year...and need to downsize this year...so she is for sale and we can't proceed with our new boat until we sell that one. Pretty much everyone but the NE's guys rip Northcoats(all because most haven't been on them)...they are a veryheavy boat at 2800#'s...loook great the shallow deadrise is a little scary at 10 degrees....but if anyone has ridden in a new one please let me know your likes and dislikes. We aren't looking to win an beauty contests with her so fit and finish...aren't really that important...since we plan on splattering fish guts on it. The Northcoast looks like a vew nice deal. It would be with a 175 etec...how do you think it would run with that engine? The top 2 runners are really the Parker or the Northcoast...thanks.

I may get rained on here a little, when I looked at Parkers, felt that they just did not give you alot of creature comforts for the $ shelled out. I'm not talking about porta potti's, but rod holders and gear strorage. That said, alot of guys love them. Back five or six years ago they were all the rage. I just think you can get better for the money. Trying not to tread on them, cause as a North Carolina style boat, they are built solid. They have a great resale value.
North Coast does catch your eye. Have not been on one, and would be interested in their reputation. What happens when there are issues with the product. Without a reputation, resale value may be questionable. Horn is a nice looking boat, again, don't know too much about it. A marina just picked up this line down the street from me. They look sweet. Again, think resale. |
I think the NC will do well with 175. Is it the version with the inner liner, or just just the rough painted deck? I have a NC19 with the rough deck, and it is a great savings, although you do lose a little storage.
Parker is very nice, but I would not buy new. You could probably find a very low hrs used for substantially less. |

the 19' runs well in chop. when it gets 2-3ft it becomes uncomfortable. i try not to go out in 3-5ft. over that i would be nervous.
If you are getting fish boxes, then you are getting a liner I would think. That means you also get a head in the console which is nice if you have a wife. The livewell they supply is in the back of the leaning post. It is very good. Unforutnately very pricey, though (around $2.5K). |
