Hi
I'm from Kalbarri in West Australia I am a retired farmer (PD) Kalbarri is 150 + kilometres south of steep point. The fish with the jetski's are narrow barred mackeral and the fish with the Atv are small mulloway. The boat is home built for the atv to cross the river to fish up to16 miles north away from the crowds. Cheer's wafarmer |
Very cool! Please post more pics and tell us more of yourself!:)

hey Wafarmer
thanks for posting those.... great to see you guys in shorts
with a tan .... this is our last week of sub-freezing temperatures and the madness of not fishing all winter has taken it's toll on all the members here... so it's much appreciated :kewl: |

I think Raiders is the brand of a lure. I had to retire from farming but it was wheat mainly but at one time we grew quite a lot of canola. Its getting late here 11.44 pm but if you want I'll post some pic's of the farm and gear. I will have to make sure you have a general area to post that in. Cheer's wafarmer |
What is the fish your wife is holding? Looks similar to our weakfish.
|
welcome wafarmer
Thanks for the great pics. An exchange would work very well. Our season difference would be perfect. Australia looks like a great place to visit/fish...fish... The salmonidae looking fish appear to be similar to our squeteague/weakfish/sea trout.
The casting reels pictured are very different from what we use. I would imagine that they have huge line capacity, (500-700 yards of 20# mono???). 14ft rod w/a large capacity Alvey type reel must cast a country mile. Looking forward to your future posts. |
It is called a Mulloway. Good fighter and grow up to 60-80 Lbs

Hi parker23 and all
Yes we use alvey 650c5 and 700 c5 they hold 500yards + of 25lb line and 14 - 15 ft 7 to 9 wrap rods. Also up to 80lb braid on the cliffs. We need them to cast long distances and also for whinching up cliffs. I maybe off to steep point on tuesday with my brother and cousin we are hoping to take some jetskis to troll for tuna and mackerel just inside of steep point if the weather is good. One of the guys asked about farming so with your indulgence I will add a few pics of the gear |
Oh yes the fish you ask about are called mulloway (argyrosomus japonicus)

One of the guys asked about farming so with your indulgence I will add a few pics of the gear[/quote] ------------------------------------------------------------- that would be me.... Raven i think farm Machinery is BOSS gives me a rush... thanks for the pics.. those are very huge and cool machines.. wow! ----------------------------------------------------------- What a you using for trolling for tuna as bait behind the Jetski? |
great machines
Now that's a lawn mower. I will never look at my little John Deere the same way. Big machines, 15 ft rods, casting reels w/600 yards capacity, trolling for tuna on a JetSki... I am begining to feel inadequate. Have a great day of fishing!

Hi WaFarmer!!!
Nice Pics!!! I have a few questions for you!!! How many types of fish can you catch when you go out fishing? Also, Do you fish for a certain type of fish when you go fishing, or do you just fish for whatever you can catch? Oh, and 1 more- Are any of those fish good to eat? Thanks for the pics and information!!! |
Hi a bit late here11.30 but here goes
We catch tailor to 3ft+ 1' to 2'6'' more normal (I think you call it bluefish) which I use mainly for bait, mulloway to 40+lbs White tip and blacktip reef sharks to about 5'6'' shovelnose sharks to about 7ft different types of trevally( pink snapper mainly in winter off beaches the cliffs all year). The tailor are a bit seasonal but some big ones stay around to surprise you all year. I target mulloway as I find them good to eat (some don't)and they can be tricky to catch when they get old and smart. Cheer's wafarmer |
