Raven 03-02-2007 01:25 PM

i'll tell ya....

i saw this guy....i think it was in italy ok
it was a tv special on alternate fuels...

he was a sunflower seed grower.... and had a huge press.

he had these simple wire mesh cones like a fat
ice cream cone shape...
with a coffee filter liner...->
in them to filter the impurities out of the sunflower seed oil.

they were everywhere !! drip drip dripping into funnels that
had cheap hoses and gallon jugs underneath....

it's my destiny to do that.... i'm hooked bigtime.

F--> OPEC
i'll be buying diesels soon.... and a farm. :read:

fishonnelsons 03-02-2007 04:12 PM

Cheaper across the bridge than in Buzzards Bay--Exxon at the rotary was $2.49 last night.

The Thursday before President's Day it had gone down to $2.19 at that station--$2.13 farther down Main Street.

Up 30 cents in two weeks--why?--because they can :af:

We own an oil-producing middle eastern country, and can't even take advantage of that? If we're going to have an unjustified invasion and abuse our military strength, they should at least give us decent gas prices.

Fishpart 03-03-2007 04:26 PM

Now that the Dems control Congress the price will drop like a stone....

afterhours 03-03-2007 05:11 PM

bend over and grab yer ankles the gasholes are at it again from 2.06 to 2.42 in a month. gee maybe they have to make up for lost $$ due to mild winter :liquify: . i can't believe our gov't lets us get fluked like this- this is robbery without a mask. why? - like mikep said- they can.

Raider Ronnie 03-03-2007 05:14 PM

Exxon / Mobil's earnings were down last qtr

Mike P 03-04-2007 12:43 AM

I went to M&Ds this morning. When I got there around 10, the price for 87 regular at the Hess station next door was $2.33 9/10.

I left around noon. It was $2.39 9/10 :rollem:

kevin d 03-04-2007 08:56 AM

Has anyone heard why the price went up this time? I keep reading that the price is supposed to drop to a 3 year low and every time I hear it the price goes up. :smash:

UserRemoved1 03-04-2007 10:56 AM

I saw $2.98 a gallon for diesel on the way home last nite I almost crapped. That's .35 a gallon more than I been paying.

Last month it was widely publicized that the futures contracts for fuel were running down for the entire month of march...tell me they're not raping us now. JERKS. :fishslap:

This could be more true than we think. These oil companies have seen that the people WILL pay it. Moan and groan we might, but they laugh all the way to the bank.:af:

FishHawk 03-05-2007 06:15 AM

That's why I got a hybrid.

I got sick of the gas BS and got a Prius. Living on a fixed income, the hybrid helps me take trip that I would normally not be able to . So screw the gas cos. and get a hybrid. FishHawk

Hooper 03-05-2007 09:11 AM

Pain at the pump

Yeah, well, maybe if you are in need of a new vehicle, but, it doesn't make much sense to trade in a paid for vehicle only lay out $20K + for a hybrid to save a few bucks at the pump, but last summer people went into a panic and did just that....:fishslap:

Rockfish9 03-05-2007 11:48 AM

I'm sure this will get blamed on last weeks stock market crash....(adjustment)

I was pondering it all this morning as I pumped 68 bucks worth of gas into my PU......

This keeps up I'll be doing alot more surf fishing and leave the boat at the dock....

Karl F 03-05-2007 12:11 PM

Once Again.. the doublespeak, as they tuck it to us..

Once again, seasonal industry activity combined with speculative investing, mixed with geopolitical tension has created an environment for higher fuel costs.

Overall, the direction for fuel prices this summer and later will be determined by whether consumer and investor demand for energy stays high, or is scared away by the political and economic events of the future

From an article online explaining it this AM....

Raven 03-05-2007 03:27 PM

quit crying ya land lubbers and rig a sail.....

hell, i took a bed sheet , made a mast for a pram and sailed everywhere......no problem.

i'd do it again.... if i had a good trolling motor....:devil2:

its more than likely up another 6 cents since you left yesterday . I paid 255.9 yesterday morning when I got back from tctfn . when I left Saturday it was 243.9 . I should have filled up in RI on the way back .

Raider Ronnie 03-05-2007 07:07 PM

I paid $2:43 tonight at whats been the cheapest place near me !
Less than a month ago they were $2:03

MrHunters 03-05-2007 09:43 PM

2.47 today in gloucester... this blows.

tattoobob 03-05-2007 10:10 PM

THis really blows I have been using 3 tanks a week to go to work for the last 2 months. it is killing me

labrax 03-05-2007 11:08 PM

I started keeping a log after getting a used Expedition - in 1.5 months $289 - it is killing me to pay that much. I was driving a Jetta that got 30 MPG. I have to keep thinking that the repair costs to the Jetta would offset the gas savings.

Date Gallons Miles ~ MPG Cost Price Note
01/25/07 18.7 235 12.57 $40.00 $2.14
01/31/07 21.1 265 12.56 $46.00 $2.18 36PSI tires
02/07/07 11.7 156 13.33 $25.00 $2.14 Air Filter
02/12/07 14.0 185 13.21 $30.00 $2.14
02/18/07 14.2 190 13.35 $31.00 $2.18
02/22/07 12.2 195 15.98 $27.00 $2.21 1/2 HW Miles
02/24/07 8.8 120 13.71 $20.00 $2.27
02/28/07 12.7 160 12.60 $30.00 $2.37
03/05/07 16.4 0.00 $40.00 $2.43

I am sure it will be up over $3.00 before we know it. They will blame increased demand with the upcoming summer travel season coming up, Middle East tension, etc.

afterhours 03-08-2007 06:39 AM

.....still like that idea of nation wide boycott of mobil exxon- us putting pressure on them intead of vice versa.

riverrat2 03-08-2007 07:17 AM

Yea I agree. I never buy my oil from mobil/exxon. The local places are usually cheaper anyways.
