I am starting to think about how I am going to set up my boat, a1960's 14' Aluminum Starcraft.

I know I want a trolling motor, but I know absolutely nothing about them.

I primarily want to do some freshwater bass & trout fishing with this boat.

How much thrust should I be looking for?

Are the trolling motors powerful enough to serve as the sole power for the boat?

Should be looking for a transom or bow mount?

You wont need much to move you around, but unless its a real small lake/pond, I'd suggest at least a 9.9 - 15hp to get around at a decent clip.

For simplicity, I'd mount the trolling motor on the transome.
