jimmy z 03-12-2007 06:27 PM

Yea, eels are the key. But I have some big eight inch swimmers that do damage as well.;)

The venerable small white creek chub popper

MartinD18 03-13-2007 04:51 AM

Last year it was Hogys. Black after dark, bubblegum almost anytime, white at first light. Those things swim like no other soft bait out there and they are tough too. Nothing huge but LOTS of fish in the 20 - 30 pound range. The double hook rig takes like 20 seconds to rig. Love em.

fishpoopoo 03-13-2007 03:27 PM

in May, my favorite cow-killer is a live scup.

Sluggoslinger 03-13-2007 03:44 PM

Nobody for fresh sand eels??? They work like magic from July - Sept for me.

parker23 03-13-2007 03:48 PM

herring, pogies, 12" bluefish, I--legal scup.
Bass don't eat eels, they just kill them because they are so slimey and snakelike and really scary...
Ok eels are definately a large fish magnet. But they do give me nightmares.

shadow 03-13-2007 04:44 PM

i allways get my best fish of the year on live macks

Finaddict 03-13-2007 10:02 PM

If I had my choice ... fresh pogies, nearly dead so they are flapping helplessly ... sending out that help me kick to all the big bass in the area ... as they do the slow flip down ... deadly

... after that for bait its eels ... for plugs, I love the pencils at dawn and dusk ... I love the pencils ...
