Nice - brings back memories of when I was out there in the late 90's catching stripers in February down Rio Vista / Sherman Island...

Funny story, one day I went down and this promising spot along the levee that you could drive down to and park along the bank of the Sacramento. The spot was loaded with anglers catching so I had to fish up a different point a bit. The next day I plan to spend a few more hours back there.

Light rain, really more misting than raining, I go back and the spot is empty but all of the other spots are full now. Why isn't anyone else fishing this prime spot I ask myself. So I drive down but I get stuck. You see, the levee is a clayish material and it is slicker than duck poop. As I try to get back up the levee my rental is sliding sideways closer and closer to within 2 feet of the swift moving Sacramento River. I'm starting to soil my drawers thinking I'm going to flush my car into the Sac!

I pull out all of my gear, roll down the windows, keep the drivers door open, throw some light brush under the tires and start rocking the car Drive - Reverse - Drive Reverse and on and on until I'm no longer feet from going into the river and get it back up onto the road...

The people had gathered around a bit no doubt thinking I was going in. They were shocked when I got it out. One guys asked how I did it and I explained I just acted as if I was driving on ice.

Ice? He asked. Sure, I'm from Boston...

Guess you had to be there  :buds:

Nice! Does Steelhead time ever overlap w/Striper Time out there? In the same general locations?

How great would THAT be.....Catch a bass one minute, catch a steelie the next....Maybe even on the same plug!

Yes they do over lap....we also have resident Striper's all year round,I have not heard it done but May/June/July someone could have a shot at Striper/Shad/Steellhead/Salmon all in one day.......I'm 25 min from the surf, and 1 1/2 hours to the American and 2/1/4 hours to the Feather River, it's mot uncommon for me to make the 198 mile round trip the the American three to four times a week, especially during out Shad run after work make the run up fish till dark, but the last Shad we fly line the thing and hope that a big Striper will nail it.......it's nothing like the grate fishing that you guys have back east, but it's still fun.....I'll post more pics of west coast fishing.
