1st attempt at handcarved popper

This is my first attempt at a handcarved popper, I am using the magnum screw eyes from cape cod tackle. Thanks Mike & great shop! my only question is where should I weight this? I'm thinking near the tail so it sits slightly head up in the water. What do you guys think?
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

thanks:read:

Yes!
Some weight in the tail....and.....you may need some forward as well. That plug is pretty long. If you get the tail down, you'll never get the nose down during retrieve.
While you are teasting, try a nice bucktailed siwash hook in the tail to set up some drag during retrieve. Use an eleastic and weights to determine your prefered location.
Good luck
