This is the stuff ya read--

after you retire:
PLUS YOUR SO OLD YA DOUBLE POST IT. :hidin:
Abe Coleman, the Hebrew Hercules passed away March 28 at 101 yrs old.
The Washinton Post

"Professional wrestler Abe Coleman said he got his signature move from watching kangaroos."

"Abe Coleman a Polish-born professional wrestler promoted as the "Hebrew Hercules" and "Jewish Tarzan",
died March 28 at Meadow Park Nursing home in Queens NY. He was 101 years old and had kidney failure."

"Starting in the late 1920s, Mr. Coleman had more than 2000 fights during a 25 year career."

"Mr. Coleman was a strikingly broad but diminutive man whose 5-foot 3 frame prompted jokes that he appeared to be standing in a ditch.
However, at 200 pounds-with 18-inch biceps amd 18.5-inch neck-he stood his ground in the ring like a fireplug."

"He was amazingly agile. His signature move was the drop kick, in which the wrestler ups and boots his opponent with the soles of his feet.
He claimed to introduce the manuver in 1930 after having toured Australia and seeing kangaroos attacking in the same way."

"During one unfortunate match up against Man Mountain Dean, who weighted 465 pounds,
Mr. Coleman managed to pick up his foe and slam him into the mat. They came crashing through the ring to the hard floor below."

"He spent much of his retirement playing poker and gambling at Off Track Betting." "His wife...died in 1984."
"He claimed to have met her in 1936 while on the job. "i was thrown out of the ring and landed right in her lap," he said."

interesting guy....Dave....

i wonder if he ever was in the ring with "haystack calhoun "

my favorite wrestler ....

who used to lift everything on the farm
to get crazy strong....

Don't know if he wrastled "The Haystack" or not Rav, but he did fight before the phony stuff staretd in the 50s.
Two thousand fights during that time frame was alot of ring time.

What cracked me up was the expressions used in the obit like:

....appeared to be standing in a ditch, .... stood his ground in the ring like a fireplug,..... the wrestler ups and boots his opponent with the soles of his feet ... his signature move... from watching kangaroos fight ....

those expressions had to be reported by a guy as old as him. :hihi: Prolly one of Clammahs friends. :rotf3:

Does anybody know if he was related to that former great wrestler
Ivan(the Polish Hammer) Putsky? I met this guy once down at Salisbury Beach in the mid 60's when they had wrestling there on Saturday nights!!! The guy was only like 5ft 2" but was about 220lbs !!! He was built like a bulldog!!! He would walk around the beach center on Saturday afternoon before his match that night and challenge people to arm wrestle him!!! Never saw anybody beat him, not even the biggest of guys!!!

They say Abe quit in the late 40's. Maybe his son, not many guys built like that. :D
