Memory stick problem
I have a Gateway MX6448 laptop with XP Media version. The laptop has a memory card reader slot in the side of it that excepts my cameras memory stick pro. When I put the stick in, it beeps and seems to read the stick but I can't see the pics. My other pc reads the stick fine.

If there is a disc with a driver for the memory reader try reloading the driver (software that runs the hardware),,, just a guess
|
Where has it been?   :tooth:

IF it doesnt work in both, it's probably F-ed. If it works in one, try putting it in the USB and then doing add hardware or maybe google the brand and download a driver? Also, make sure you use the green arrow in the task bar to safely remove hardware |
WTF..I don't get it, on my desktop pc, I slide the memory stick into a slot on my printer and a pop-up menu comes up asking if I want to transfer the images and they get put into my "My Pictures" folder. On the Laptop, I plug the stick into the built in slot on the side of the Laptop and the pop-up menu asking me if I want to transfer images comes up, but when I select OK, it won't download the images. Do I need to install image software? Which is best?

xp has a built in software transfer engine. typically image stuff comes with cameras that you buy.
next time you try go to "my computer" you should your device as a drive with a letter... see if you can explore it and then try and copy and paste the images off. |

check your updates |
what you should do is go to your local office supply store and get a USB universal port that has like 10 slots for camera cards. I realize this is slightly redundant when you have a slot on your laptop for it but I think after reading the previous posts the only reason I can come up with is the card input on your laptop is broken.
