Dumbass of the Year? Man Thought Signed Waiver Would Make Naked Pictures of Girls Okay

How do you get to be 57-years-old and be so stupid? A Michigan man was surprised when police raided his home to arrest him for taking naughty pictures of underage girls. He thought he was just providing a "business service" and that having the girls sign a waiver would protect him. No, really. Here's more from The Sentinal Standard:

Detectives from the Ionia County Sheriff's Office allege Ben William Coffin Sr., 57, was taking nude and sexually explicit photographs of 16- and 17-year-old girls.
At his home in Easton Township, just outside Ionia city limits, police say Coffin paid the willing participants $50 if they allowed him to take the photos. It is also believed Coffin paid or otherwise requested some of the girls to recruit other girls.
“It is unknown at this time what Coffin intended to do with the photographs, however one witness interviewed said that the photos were to be used on a Web site,” said Deputy Dion Sower.
Deputies were unable to locate any photos on a Web site belonging to Coffin.
Ionia County Prosecutor Ronald Schafer said that although the girls were willing participants, and some were 17 years of age, the photographs are still considered child pornography. According to state statute, a 17-year-old may engage in consensual sex but it is a crime to take nude or sexually explicit photographs of a 17 year old.
