Older Gibbs
|
i have one of the poppers in mack. wish i knew how much it was worth. maybe someone else will....
|
tough call. May pull 30 bux ea or may only pull 10 bux ea. prices are all over the place right now with some of the older gibbs stuff. It would depend on which collectors needed those particular colors. (none of them are what one would call rare)

Looks like your feeling a little better :humpty: Skitter the BB addy will bring more money than the other one. Like Mac said 10-30 VB |
The Falmouth address isn't a "real" Gibbs. A mail order place on Dillingham Road called The Tackle Box owned Gibbs for a year or two in the early 80s, before John Gibbs reaquired it from them. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with them. But they come from a period when Gibbs wasn't family owned, which might affect their value with purists. As a fishing lure, they're fine.
Imagine The Surfcaster with a retail showroom, and you have The Tackle Box--I miss the place :( |
Thank you
Someone mentioned in a PM that these should be rewired with all new hardware? They are new in pkg so why?
I don`t think so......:hs: |
Fish them, thats what they were made for not collecting. Everyone is nutz with this collecting thing thinking that every freakin' lure they find that looks a couple years old is "collectible and worth something". Bull sh!t! Can't buy a freaking Beachmaster cause evryone buys them to collect or re-sell to some fool cause they think they are or will be collectible.
Except for Gibbs, Salty and Gags and a few others most of the other plug makers is catering to and feeding the collecting syndrome with new designs and special colors most of which suck as far as fish catching patterns go. Dammit I want plugs to fish from these guys not pay outrageous money to to hang with what is really collectible.:lossinit: Rant is over, carry on. |

Have a great year, Mike |
Should you choose to part with any of them I would give you a plug of equal value. I'm very interested in the yellow bottle. And to make everyone happy I will fish it. :) Maybe a jointed Ryan Smith swimmer.

luds.... what color jointed and is it new/unfished?

Here it is. New and unfished. Is that 2 or 3 oz? When I responded I thought it was a 2 oz. but it looks like they are 3. |
Deal.......... good Rhody or LI bait.... or many places :uhuh: Some people don`t like Parrot but they don`t know what the fish see depending on water clarity/pollution, light, and geography.
Mike Choate PO BOX 144 Onset, Ma. 02558 Ryan is an artist and a great guy ............. I posted my address in case anyone else, on a whim, wants to send be a handmade bait :usd: but I must warn you will get one back :) |
Sorry Skitterpop. I just read your initial post and you were clear they were 3 oz. plugs. I'm really looking for older 2 oz. ones so I think I'm going to hold onto the jointed swimmer.
I would trade the swimmer for the pair of pencils. |
