Well I'm back home now. Everything went well so the doc told me. He said 3 out of the 4 muscles in the quad was disconnected but 1 was still there. He drilled holes in my kneecap pulled the muscle through and knotted and stitched things up.

He told me I should have a 100% recovery. But he did stress about doing exactly as he says. I told him no problem what so ever. Thry put my leg in a rigid brace and said to leave it on for 6 weeks. I will then go back to the bledsoe brace and start the PT regimen for approx 4 to 6 weeks. I'm going to do everything he wants and not push it.

Thanks again everybody for your well wishes and support, it means a real lot.

Dave

Great to hear your on the road to recovery, best of luck!

Uncle Matt 05-17-2007 12:12 PM

That a boy Mac. The toughest part for you is going to be to sit idle. I have loads on good DVD's I can drop off in case your bored and looking for something to do. Let me know.

Rick Ackley 05-17-2007 12:21 PM

Agreed, great news. You have the right attitude. Keep a smile on, enjoy the meds.

Raven 05-17-2007 12:33 PM

awesome news

glad to hear... everything went well...

I don't know if you have ever healed up from an injury

like this....before... to know from experience Mac....

but... i'll tell you try not to get too worried if your

leg muscles atrophy (get smaller ,skinnier) during the
six weeks of zero mobilization...
because they get right back to normal in therapy if
you work steady at it.

i was told that i had the worst break they had ever seen
and i had one of the most magnificent recoveries following.

it just takes hard work, persaverence , and dedication.

MrHunters 05-17-2007 12:54 PM

you should be putting up bigfish post count numbers in the next weeks here :)

glad all is good mac!

timf 05-17-2007 01:26 PM

Dave,

Glad to hear it went well. Make sure your PT person is on the same page as your doctor, and they will know how to push you safely. One thing to ask the doc is if e-stim (electrical stimulation) can be done. They hook you up and run electrical pulses through your muscles. It increases blood flow, gets the muscle going, and speeds up recovery. I would also suggest you use a PT group that focuses on sport pt, they will make it hurt in a good way :bo:

Good luck.

Mac can't upstage Bigfish's post numbers. Mac is too hapy and not angry with the world!!! All of Larry's ill's with the world could easily be fixed with a hug or two!
