stereo question

I listen to alot of music when im blowing glass in my studio. We have a 300 disc changer and its over flowing with good tunes. However, i really would like to connect my laptop to my stereo so i can listen to streaming music, podcasts, etc..

is it as simple as using the headphones output or is there a better way??

Yeah, you can do that. They make a plug at RS that goes from the headphone -> rca plugs. I'm sure that you could buy a audio card that had rca outs, but that is really not necessary. Just make sure that you set the volume on the laptop so that it is at the same level as any other input or you could overdrive the pre amp. Just start out a 0 and turn it up from there... This is definitely NOT an audiophile set up, but for a garage, it is more than adequate.

ipod or mp3 player??

chef- no players.. Im just going to bring my laptop to radioshack..there are a coople of outputs on the side of this thing that might be digital sound outputs. hmmmm.
I know you can get a usb wireless device that sends an FM signal to your reviever..but i think thats more of a desktop thing.

Man, he must've heard that a million times. And he'll probably hear it a million times more. Can you say, rolling eyes?

The laptop I have now is my new jukebox, I have windows media player and saved most of my cds off on it, now I just hit 'play all'.
