Wire Harness Issue

Being the unqualified electrician that I am I thought I would throw this out here. A couple of weeks ago I noticed the white wire cut loose. When I went to reconnect it I noticed there were 2 cut wires to choose from and they were both brown????? When I connected them to the white my lights didn't work properly. Anbody have any clue because it's pretty obvious I don't!

Who knows? Usually a brown wire is power and a white wire is ground, so you may have blown a fuse or tripped a breaker. Another good example of how a errant spark might detonate the bomb in your bilge if you put a fuel filter/water seperator down there.

MakoMike I was talking about my trailor lights. Thanks though.

Oh well, I gues your trailer lights aren't going to ignite anything in your bilge. :)

Wire colors

The white wire is the ground from the lights. Fasten that with a tech screw to a clean metal surface. Two browns are the running lights, one from each unit. Remaining colors are the blinkers, one wire for each side. Hope this helps.

Perfect! I'll give it another go now! Thanks!

don't miss fishing because of it, as long as your cars brake lights can be seen during daylight hours, you're legal.

Most of my life has been riding the fine line of legality so trailer lights aren't going to stop me! With that said though I still would like to fix them.
