Pencils- flatbottom (canal) or round

Which do you prefer?

In a current and where distance is needed, canal special. Standard pencils are easier to work along a beach or during a slack.

Rick what makes the flat faced any harder to work along a beach or at slack?

I prefer the canal special since some of my pencils sink and the sloped flat face helps it get up top and walking faster.

Canal specials are weighted for casting distance and sink slowly, as you know. The flat bottom makes it easier to get a sinking plug on the surface. For me, it is much easier to work a pencil with lots of back to back motion, but little forward motion, with a standard pencil in areas where I don't have current helping me keep it on top. Not a huge deal, you can make both work in either situation, just what works best for me.

I have a few pencils.
I mostly prefer the shaved/canal bottoms.
Slips pencils are Nice.
Perfect shape to weight ratio cast good work effortlessly..
