Strangest thing...

was fishing one of my local haunts this evening...and i ended up loosing a plug (smack-it popper)...it was about 30 yds out and i was casting to it to snag it...when the smack-it gets whacked by a fish...the thing is that i have not even had a hit for the hour that i was fishing and the fish nails a plug just sitting in the water??...to make matters more frustrating, the fish swims by 3 feet in front of me 10 minutes later with the plug in its mouth...at least it was just a 20" fish....weird evening...

Wow :bshake:

Sooooooo............start working your poppers slower. The cost of a Smack-it popper is a cheap lesson. Get back out there and nail them.:humpty:

yeah, i just think it is odd that it was sitting there with absolutely no action on it for at least 10 minutes and BANG...

Another lesson no one hears... The Smack-It is a fish catching plug and reasonably priced to boot...

Swimmer 06-27-2007 11:29 AM

Weird is right. Then the fish rubbed it in y swimming by real close.:rotfl:

wait until you get a birds nest/wind knot in your cast and while trying to untangle have a 4 foot fish eat the popper:boots:

Dont get any line wrapped around your finger:smash: :behead: :bounce: :tm: :conf: :fishslap:

Caught my first striper many years ago that way. Casted out about 15 feet, bird nest. Trying to get the bird nest out when the fish hit.
Almost lost the pole . Did get the fish in 36 inches. if your plug or bait is in the water remember you are fishing and like striperman said
never , I mean never wrap the line around your finger . The super braids out there are unforgiving.

doc 06-28-2007 09:10 AM

cant stop smackin-it...who can?

yeah, picked up a new pole as my guides get replaced...must have been a fray in the braid that i did not notice...was fishing in a pretty rocky spot...
