cant believe I am asking this....

what do you use for bait? Squid?

keeperreaper 06-28-2007 12:32 PM

Little pieces of squid.:hihi:

zacs 06-28-2007 12:35 PM

little pieces of sandworm work the best for me in the bay.

Pt.JudeJoe 06-28-2007 12:43 PM

clam pieces work well and are cheaper than sandworms

Seaworms, clams or squid. If they are there they will eat all three. They are usually ravenous when you find them.

i just picked up some 1/0 hooks, taking the kids out this weekend, weather permitting. I havent fished off the bottom for scup in over 20 years. Hopefully they can catch some fish whihc I can use or bait when I head out at night...........

RIROCKHOUND 06-28-2007 01:54 PM

live-line while your fishing...
4/0 trebble in the nose...

1/0 is a bit big... think smaller for scup, they will hook up easier...

Smokey14 06-28-2007 03:35 PM

1/4 sticks work if the water isn't to deep.

kippy 06-28-2007 03:42 PM

squid..sea robin bellies work if you can get some and last awhile.

Goose 06-28-2007 04:57 PM

fresh seaclams only.

right on. went out yesterday and was usin dime size pieces, that way a nibble almost guarantees its a hook up.

macojoe 06-28-2007 05:30 PM

Squid as stated above, small hooks, Live line one with the trebel.

And if you really want the kids to go nuts with them, throw a can of cat food over the side when you know you are over them!!
