Beware of the "pitty pole "

I took a buddy of mine fishing a couple of years ago to a spot that was busting with bluefish,so many you could walk on them, I guess my buddy hadn't fished for awhile , and he was determined to use the most ridiculous collection of tackle Ive ever seen . I offered to let him use mine so he wouldn't lose all his goofy %$%$%$%$. but he was persistent on using it , he was flopping the rod all over the place Im lucky I didnt lose an ear. After landing 10 or 12 fish I sarted to feel bad. There was not one fish he could land, I couldnt take it anymore I hooked a fish and gave him the pole, he took it landed it but after he said thanks for the "Pitty pole". I laughed at first but later wondered if I insulted him , Im sure he would have felt better, and boosted his confidence if he had landed his own . Lesson Learned....
