Not a Spot or Report Thread - but how have your June areas been doing when compared to last year or the past few years?

Now being in the second week of July I'm wondering if a slow (for most) June is readying people for a rough July. What do you think?

I'm unqualified to answer as I missed most of June :wall:

BrianS 07-11-2007 11:21 AM

please kill me

however.. in the past.. july has been better for me than june...

so crossin the old fingers for friday.

Rockfish9 07-11-2007 11:30 AM

June was a good month, much better than last year and a tad better than 04... July has started with a bang....

Gunpowder 07-11-2007 11:41 AM

not so good of a month fishin from the shore on the vineyard, but the boating around the vineyard hasnt been bad with several bass in the 20 pound range taken. either way, i still give more time from the shore than from the boat.

JPowers 07-11-2007 11:43 AM

It's been a rough month and getting worse daily.

luds 07-11-2007 11:45 AM

A terrible June seems to be giving way to an at least decent July. We'll see what the rest of the month brings.

Rockport24 07-11-2007 11:51 AM

June was OK. I wouldn't call it terrible. July sucks so far for me

JFigliuolo 07-11-2007 11:54 AM

SURF - I'd defeinitely say June sucked my left one. July has been SLIGHTLY better, but a few fish doesn't make a trend by any means.

Mike P 07-11-2007 12:08 PM

Probably the worst June/early July on the Canal in my memory :hs:

Yesterday I sat at MMA, and walked from the RR bridge to the Bourne and back. I didn't see a single cormorant. Bait would seem to be non-existent, although a few terns were picking microscopic sized bait off the surface out in the middle off the control center.

capecodkid 07-11-2007 01:03 PM

Alot of 20# class fish around the vineyard off the boat. Southside surf fishing was terrible. And yes, the canal sucked worse than any other june I can remember.

vanstaal 07-11-2007 01:03 PM

all along the shore in Gansatt the same story bad bad bad year :smash:

flyben24 07-11-2007 01:28 PM

a slow june, but the fish are out there somewhere.... and i think i might just know where that is :uhuh:

Pete F. 07-11-2007 01:30 PM

Trout fishing has been good
I think I'm going to Maine this wknd striper fishing so one can only hope.

JPowers 07-11-2007 01:36 PM

I'm glad to know that the fishing's sucked. I was thinking I forgot how to do it.

fishpoopoo 07-11-2007 01:57 PM

Me too, but got out sat nite in my usual neighborhood and it was slow. That being said, there are always fish to be caught. Will make some adjustments and get dialed in before too long I'm sure.

crash 07-11-2007 02:56 PM

I did OK considering the fact that I haven't put in a ton of time. Lot of small fish this year.

Have you been fishing at night its been good.

ilovetwofish 07-11-2007 03:23 PM

My daytime spots have been loaded with people so I haven't fished them in about 4 weeks. Nighttime spots have been pretty good and should be getting real good.

piemma 07-11-2007 03:35 PM

Heaven, I'm in heaven...

Narragansett Bay is LOADED with Pogies. The big girls have moved South but if you don't mind a long boat ride and some searching around there's plenty of 25 to 35# fish to be had.
I am having the best year of my life. June was unbelievable and July has been the same with the excepting that it's a longer ride to find big fish.

BTW, had a couple of my old friends from the surf on the boat last Thursday. I asked them if boat fish still didn't count as they slid a 47" bass over the side to swim away. Just a lot of smiles!!!!

ProfessorM 07-11-2007 03:47 PM

I am going to have to befriend a RI guy next year. They allow guys from mass to fish RI don't they?? It is only a small boat.

EarnedStripes44 07-11-2007 04:01 PM

I did not catch a single a Bass in the Boston harbor from the shore (various locations) in June. However, went out early 7/4, landed 3 Keepers on squid in 1 hours time (Grilled 1). Have not been out since, lots of work related stuff and my girlfriend complains I spend to many friday and saturday nights fishing.

Tagger 07-11-2007 05:25 PM

Worst ever... thought it would be my best ever.. earliest keeper for me .. 3 of them May 5th ... should have quit then .. pretty dismal .. boat fishing and eel fishing.... desperate .. I have a plan for this weekend .. hopefully turn it around .

spinncognito 07-11-2007 05:52 PM

Been a little off but mostly due to the lack of effort. Morn9ing topwater off the rocks has been picking up as of late...

shadow 07-11-2007 05:55 PM

June was awfull July just started so it is hard to say one nice fish the other night so I'am HOPING things will get better in July it ussally does. The fish aren't moving much so if you find a nice school they should be around for the summer.Like Jim said fish deep with eels.
