Bad Start-Nice Finish

1 Mile outside of Westport at 5000 rpm cruising to fish Cutty, outboard overheats and shuts down. Call Seatow and they can't get to me quickly and with my 101# thrust trolling motor, I tell them to forget it I fish my way in. About 45 minutes late I crank it up, nice water stream runs great the rest of the day (thank you), because we caught a ton of fish; my hands are junk. I put 10 miles or better on the outboard, so I'm thinking I might have picked up a bag or some debris to kill the water supply to the pump. Mechanic says go fish another day, so that's what I'm going to do tomorrow. Boys and I are having fish for diner.

Same thing happend to me last year off of Woods End Light Bob. The water stream stopped and I quickly shut it down. I didn't notice but I had picked up a dark colored trash bag and it was wrapped around the motor. My motor ran fine afterwards.

I'm glad that's all it was Bob. Go out and catch some now will ya?

Had a kelp plug one afternoon, on the OB, but did suck a trash bag years back on the IB in the Silverton, trolling Salem Sound. Was Halloween weekend, got to tell you, NE waters are cold that time of year.
