the legends of sea monsters capable of sinking sailing ships are true.

Oh my , that's a big one!! :)

JohnR 07-25-2007 09:21 AM

It is not a squid, probably an odd reef or shipwreck remains as it would be 300' long by google earth measuring tools ;)

I was doing some "research" on some of the disputed islands in the South China Sea and stumbled onto a notation of the "Giant Squid"

Spratley?

Saltheart 07-25-2007 10:25 AM

They are saying its 26 feet long , not 250 feet long. It is missing the longest tentacles so they think it would have been 60 feet if they had the whole thing intact.

The one I looked at said it was about 250 kilograms, which is around 500 lbs.
