ratty looking jigs

I'm convinced that the nastier, nappier, and just plain ratty looking that a jig gets - the better it fishes. New jigs are ok, but they catch better the older they get. Problem is, I blow through a ton of jigs each season, and by the time they start getting really fishy, the usually end up on a pot.

I thought I'd toss this out there, maybe one of the jigging canal guys has a tip on how to make new jigs look nasty quicker.
