Wire Guides and Braid

Are wire guides fine for braided line as long as you have a tip guide that will support braid? I've always thought of them as only being good for mono but have heard differing opinions recently.

braid will eat wire guides. just look at what braid does to a VS line roller. And that is made of titanium.

Mono eats wire guides, so braid will just do it faster. Before ceramics came out, I'd get maybe two seasons out of a set of wire guides. The ones nearest the tip groove first, but eventually you'll replace them all, so I always did the whole set.

yes, ss/wire guide will wear faster. also, you do not need guide sizes as large as the old school mono belief w/ braid.
