Surf howdy -walk the dog or slow wake

What's your preference with a surf howdy type lure: walk the dog or slow wake (like a needle)? I've tried both with similar success.

My preference doesn't matter. It's the fish's preference that should govern your decision. Vary it and find out what they want.

I like to walk it, but it has to "pop and splash" a little. I think it looks a little more alive

I have a Bernzy split tail howdy , I make it act like a bait fish with it's tail cut off ,,, walk , stop , tail splash V-wake with the tail spinning and spitting, it wakes up a lazy fish for sure then, Bam ,your on
I haven't caught any big fish on it but it wakes them up , and Bernzy the signature on it hasn't worn off.
I love the way it leaves a V wake and with the spinning tail spitting.

IMO this was an innovative lure which has been copied to death because if is easy to make. I fish it like a needle and the V wake is pronounced and deadly. Great plug, always have one or two in my bag.
