Barry Bonds
I can't believe he tied the home run record and will most like break it any day now,
and there is no Barry Bonds ( Huge head, steriod cheating, POS ) bashing tread !!!! |
Already had one going a couple weeks back....if it makes you feel any better....nobody cared!:kewl:
|
I feel bad for hammerin' Hank
anyway, arod will pass bonds someday so atleast we have that the cheater does not let it bother him because many did it before him, sad really |
I hope you are right Slip......he is young enough, thats for sure!
Hank Aaron is one of the classiest players to ever take the field! A true gentleman and man......look at his stats season in and season out! One of the best "HITTERS" ever.....never mind just homeruns!:kewl: |
I look at it 2 ways
1, He's a POS compared to guys like Mantle,Ruth, Dimaggio,Gehrig, Aaron, Reggie Jackson ect.... 2 I would bet 1/2 the players(pitchers included) in the past 15-20 years have used them, and they haven't hit the same numbers that he has! |
Barry Who??? Didn't he use to play for the Pirates?
|
Can you believe Aaron only won 1 MVP award? But man.....think about who was in the NL all those years?!?!?!? Mays, Clemente, McCovey, Frank Robinson....heck I think he won 2 in the NL? Snider, Musial for a bit early in Hanks career!!! Thats not even scratching the surface!
|
no one cares because he's an AHOLE
if he was a nice guy he'd probably would get a lot less flack look at mcguire. |

It didn't help that the Braves sucked for most of his career. But you're right--the late 50s, 60s and early 70s were the golden days of baseball. The AL had Mantle, Yaz, Killebrew, Kaline, Cash, Colavito, Oliva, Carew and so on. Pitchers? Oh, just some hackers named Koufax, Drysdale, Gibson, Seaver, Marichal, McDowell, Lolich, Tiant, Palmer. Do you realize that in one year--1969 or 1970 I think--the entire 4 man rotation for the Orioles were 20 game winners? Palmer, McNally, Dobson and Cuellar. Now you don't have four 20 game winners in the whole league--maybe not in both leagues. Remember Denny McLain--only 30 game winner of my lifetime, and the last 30 game winner any of us will ever see. You might see another .400 hitter, someone might hit 90 HRs, but no pitcher today gets enough starts to win 30. |
Yeah Mike....add Spahn, Ford, G. Perry....crap the list goes on.....all perennial 20 game winners! Even the so-called "scrubs" by the standards of the time were winning 15 games a year because the teams were so laden with the best defensive players ever and the best hitters ever from 1 thru 9.......teams from today could not play with those teams....its a fact!:kewl:

Imagine an All Star team with Aaron, Mays and Clemente across the outfield? It probably was a regular occurrence. I don't particularly remember those games except for the fact that the AL regularly got their clock cleaned. I think they lost something like 19 of 20 in one stretch.
I remember one AS game where Seaver started and struck out 7 of the 9 batters he faced--AL All Stars, no less, some of the best sluggers of all time. If he could have pitched the whole game I'd bet on a perfecto that day--he was untouchable. I doubt he threw 30 pitches in his three innings. |
