Circuit City Sucks
Hello, my name is Brian, and I am a TV addict.
I never realized just how bad it was until this morning. You see, last night dear 1 year old son Alex turned the TV on and off repeatedly one time too many, and the TV refused to turn on. My sister tried to fix it, my brother in law tried to fix it, I tried to fix it. DEAD..... But wait! I purchased the extended warantee from Circuit City! I can get it replaced! Wrong... apparantley since my TV is over 26 inches, they need to come to me, and according to "Amos" the earliest they could show up was 2 weeks.... INCONCIEVABLE/UNACCEPTABLE/NOT GONNA HAPPEN. This fired off an interesting chain of events... 1. I explained to Amos this wasnt acceptable and I wanted a supervisor. He told me it would take two days for one to call me back. This incensed me further. 2. I explained that I knew for a fact that he didnt actually work for circuit city and he should give me a superior... Pause... He claimed he did... LIES! 3. He gave me ticket information (which we later found out he didnt actually open) and I decided to call the store. 4. The phone at the store said they were closed.... at 5pm on a Thurs... riiiiiiight... So I press 0 for an operator and got her.. "Oh is the phone still broken? We just fixed that...... NO - YOU DIDNT.... 5. I got on the phone with someone in the TV department... I explained I was about to bring my 400lb TV to them and shove it up their rears... He didnt like that but promptly gave me to the operations manager when I asked.. That was nice... 6. I spoke to the operations manager for the Taunton Circuit City store. I have his name written down somewhere. He gave me the same spiel as "Amos" did... I explained my displeasure and decided to goto the top. If I had to wait two weeks, they were going to feel my joy every day of it... The ops manager stalled on me... Shannon then got on the phone... DON'T SCREW WITH A WOMAN AND HER TV... She demanded the number for the district manager. We got the name, but he lied about the number which ended up being a hotline back to "Amos".... 7. Shannon called and spoke to dear "Amos". Who in this case promptly got her to a supervisor. After some stalling, and more lies... (I work for an affiliate of Circuit City.. I know this behind the scene bull%$%$%$%$). I was given to a specialist who got the date moved up to Tuesday... Annoyed, and hungry.. I accepted... 8. Shannon called Sony... Spoke to many concerned people and finally got to a specialist who was VERY concerned and would be contacting the Taunton Circuit City... SO... VERY.... ANNOYING.... So where are we now? The editorial is in process. I am sending it to EVERY newspaper I know including Help Me Hank. It will be a little more well written than this , and a cry for help from the corporate bull%$%$%$%$ that is extended warantees. Im going to CC it to EVERY circuit city email address I can find. It will be fun - updates to follow. |
You shoulda told your kid to leave the TV alone......
(sorry, I couldn't Resist) :hee: |

good call didnt think of that. i think ill hand deliver a copy to the store manager as well |
that is such B.S.......
I can't believe how consumers are treated....a big ticket item should be addressed PROTO!!!! Go get them Brian... |
Can I add that I am also mentioning the wonderful "goof proof" service that Bob Furniture sells?
Couple different issues with that one as well, but in Bob's defense, everytime I called they sent out their own guy to work on the bed, but I still paid for the other service. |
That was great!!!!Sorry, and I thought I was the only one who gets %$%$%$%$ like that:devil2:
Best of luck w/ it! 5/0 |
Long weekend no tv is not a good thing.Better go on roadtrip to forget or the anger will just keep building. My son did that to mine as well.I wouldn't pay extra for any of those crappy warantee's unless it's a "If it breaks we replace it no questions asked" .CompUSA has this on some of it's electrical stuff and if you break mice and keyboards like me it's good for 5 bux.I'd say give em Hell and tell the world. The more people who know about the crappy warantee the less people that will buy it or a TV from CC thus hopefully making CC close it's doors for the opening of a giant custom plug shop.Wishful thinking.

I work for a custom AV firm and thank god I'll never have to buy from a big box store again. We don't sell Sony for a reason, well let me correct that we can get it if it is a small piece on a big job. Sony has the worst track record when it comes to the warranty. The extended warranty is joke. The money you spent on that you should have bought an LCD or plasma. I'm sorry to hear about your TV and hope it gets fixed soon.

Well the TV s fixed.
I decided against an editorial, but I have a 4 page letter ready to send to: Consumer Reports The Better Business Bureau Circuit City Corporate Martha Coakley (Attorney General) and I am going to hand deliver a copy to the store manager. At this point, Im just looking to stir things up - Bigtime. |
